Greener Grass

A Sneak Peek into Part I:

"My toes have clenched the blades of greener grass

in a town you reach beyond an underpass.

To enter the town, you count to ten,

the grass will shift, and then you’ll see wooden men.

It’s an easy transition—

but it puts your head in a new position.

The blades of grass were far from dull,

so much so, they really took a toll!

But despite the blood soaking my feet,

I never dared to take a seat.

The grass was alluring from where I stood—

and the townspeople seemed real, though they were wood!

The journey was long, I found two places

and I saw both familiar and unfamiliar faces.

You see it got interesting, at first I couldn’t leave:

after revealing the heart on my sleeve,

for everyone and all in town,

the wooden folks granted me a crown.

I didn’t know it then, but I wasn’t the only one

you see, everyone who passes through has their fun..."
